Class assignment brings historical figures together

Paris, Texas, February 12, 2020 – Junior students in Dennis Hodgkiss’s AP U. S. History class at North Lamar High School have been researching historical figures who have had a major impact on the United States.  They were then assigned to portray that individual in a gathering with other historical figures.  The students were to mingle and talk to all of the historical figures begin careful to use the language and knowledge of the time period they were portraying. 

MacKenna Miller, left, is shown portraying Susan B. Anthony as she invites the other historical figures to sign a petition to support women's suffrage. Listening to her share why they should sign the petition is Sloane Hill portraying Sacagawea, Joseph Franklin portraying Thomas Jefferson, Hodgkiss portraying Alexander Hamilton, Hilton Bounds portraying Nicola Tesla, Emeri Watson portraying Sally Ride, Bonnie Dong portraying Yuri Kochiyama, and Mackenzie Walker portraying Jane Goodall.
