Bullying Information

At North Lamar ISD, we are dedicated to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for every student. We believe that understanding what constitutes bullying — and what does not — is essential to fostering a positive school culture.

What is Bullying?

Bullying is intentional, repeated, and harmful behavior that involves an imbalance of power. It can happen in person or online and can take many forms, including:

  • Physical Bullying: Hitting, pushing, or any form of physical aggression.
  • Verbal Bullying: Name-calling, teasing, insults, or threats.
  • Social/Relational Bullying: Exclusion from a group, spreading rumors, or damaging someone's social reputation.
  • Cyberbullying: Using technology (like social media or messaging) to harass, intimidate, or embarrass others.

What is NOT Bullying?

While all negative interactions between students are concerning, not all conflicts meet the criteria for bullying. Here’s what is not considered bullying:

  • Single Acts of Meanness or Conflict: One-time arguments, disagreements, or expressions of anger.
  • Mutual Disagreements: Situations where both students are equally involved in a conflict or misunderstanding.
  • Accidental Actions: Accidental bumps, miscommunications, or unintended behaviors that do not involve malice or power imbalance.

What Can You Do?

If you or someone you know is experiencing bullying, report it to a trusted adult, a teacher, or a school counselor. North Lamar ISD takes all reports seriously and works to resolve conflicts swiftly and fairly. We prioritize student well-being and strive to address issues before they escalate.
