The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) are state standards outlining the knowledge and skills that students in Texas are expected to learn from pre-kindergarten through high school. Developed by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), the TEKS cover a broad range of subjects, including core areas like math, science, social studies, and language arts, as well as fine arts, technology, and health education. These standards ensure that students across Texas receive a well-rounded and rigorous education, providing a foundation for academic success and preparation for college, career, and community life. Through the TEKS, teachers have a clear framework to guide instruction, helping students build essential skills at each grade level.
STAAR Testing Resources provide students, parents, and educators with tools and information to help prepare for the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR). These resources include practice tests, study guides, subject-specific tips, and testing strategies to support student success in core subjects like math, reading, science, and social studies. Designed to align with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards, STAAR resources help ensure that students are familiar with the test format and can confidently demonstrate their knowledge. Parents and educators can use these materials to identify areas of growth and track progress, ensuring that each student has the support they need to reach their academic goals.
House Bill 1416 is a Texas state law passed to enhance educational support for students who may have experienced academic setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This bill focuses on providing targeted interventions to help students close learning gaps through accelerated instruction and tutoring, particularly for those who may have missed essential learning opportunities. House Bill 1416 mandates that schools implement programs to ensure students receive extra instructional support, especially in critical subjects like math and reading, to help them meet grade-level expectations. This bill reflects Texas's commitment to ensuring every student has access to resources and support necessary to succeed and stay on track academically.
